Gels
« on: May 12, 2008, 09:40:56 AM »

This year was mango, everywhere. Yuck. Is this the kind they can't sell. There has to be a good neutral flavor. I like the idea of having the same type of gel, to reduce GI, issues. I would like to know ahead of time which flavors will be available, so that I can get my stomach in sync. Thank goodness for the oranges.

I loved the volunteer. They were awesome.

That's odd - I don't remember seeing any mango gels - they sound good!  Either way - I think it's best to carry your favorite gels just to be safe.  I usually use Carb Boom, but by the time of the run - I was looking for anything other than what I was use to.

Man there were only boxes of mango everywhere. I have tried it once an it may have been old but I remember it being hideous. I stuck with water and 1 flavor GU the whole bike ride and half the run. Since I had a bad experience with a GI issue last year. I was hoping to change it up with something different later in the race.  I just can't handle the mango or the raspberry. They both taste like the fruit is bad. A cola flavor or lime or something bland would be nice.  Amino Vital make a great grape and Enervitene make a cola, that are great.  At mile 10 I was grateful for the beer station.  I just wish they would have offered me a brat. LOL.  Again, the volunteers are awesome.
